Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. It has been another busy and varied week here at East Devon Golf Club and there is plenty of action to report upon from off and on the links.

Pros news

I had the pleasure of attending the Annual Senior's Dinner on Wednesday night and had a very enjoyable evening and an excellent meal. Thank you to the Senior Captain Phil Keen for the kind invitation.

I have just taken delivery of my brand new GC2 Launch Monitor this week. It's a lovely bit of kit and will give you the members the opportunity to experience the latest and most versatile, mobile and accurate ball flight analysis solution available in the market place. The GC2 will be hugely beneficial in providing data for club fitting, lesson reports, gap testing and golf ball fitting.

We are planning a launch weekend for next Saturday and Sunday, so if you are interested or want to find out more about the GC2 and how we can help you improve your game please click here.

Our Club Captain was the first at the club to try it out, and he was hugely impressed at the level of feedback that was provided from the GC2!

Competition news

The rescheduled February Medal took place last weekend. Scoring conditions on the day were far from easy and the majority of the field found the going too tough to handle. The prize for the best round of the day was shared between Andrew Pelosi and Kevin Jennings who recorded excellent nett 72's on their way to winning their respective Divisions 1 and 2. Peter Dowling led the way in Division 3 with a nett 73.

The Ladies EG Medal attracted a modest entry on Tuesday despite the lifting of the trolley ban. The round of the day and maybe the season so far came from Marilyn Gerrard who returned a fantastic nett 69.

Congratulations to Deirdre Mackness on winning the Marianne Rosebowl.

Shop news

Now that March is here, we're hoping to see a few more faces in and around the club. We're also expecting to see some dusty-looking gear, with tatty golf shoes and bags being two prime examples!

While the rain's been falling and golfers have been hiding away, your pro shop has been a busy place with new equipment arriving in store ready for the new season.

In the shoes market, we have some even sportier models hitting the shelves, as well as upgrades to popular existing models, plus one or two brand-new designs that really grab your attention. If your shoe bag is seeing light for the first time in a few months, and you don't like what you see, pop by the store.

Likewise, there are some fantastic new bags arriving in store right now. Granted, you may not find a new bag as exciting as a new driver, but a good bag is priceless if you want to keep your clubs well looked after. We've also seen demand for fully waterproof bags rise, recently, which is no surprise given the weather in the UK.

If you're coming out of hibernation, or have been meaning to upgrade that bag of yours anyway, come and find out what's new in the store or click here to take a look at some of the latest products.

Enjoy your golf this week. Trevor

ECCO

We do like a bit of visual technology - and that's exactly what you get with these new shoes. However, the 'cage' isn't just for show, you just have to try a pair on. Not only are they extremely comfortable, something you always get from ECCO, but they feel great through the swing.
