Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. We have had another busy week here at East Devon Golf Club, and with the official arrival of British Summer Time just around the corner and an action packed Easter Weekend, we are looking forward to some exciting months ahead.
With The Masters only a fortnight away, the Pro Shop is running a sweepstake for the 1st Major of the golf calendar.
Tickets have sold steadily over the last week, but there are still a few remaining if you fancy a dabble.
Tickets are available at £5 each.
On completion of the last square being sold; a draw will take place to decide who gets which golfer.
Prize vouchers will be awarded to the top three places.
Daily prizes will also be awarded for the best and worst scores of the day.
The first competitive action to report upon this week is from the Yellow Ball Team Stableford last Saturday. A full field battled it out for the honours, and in a closely contested contest the trio of Julian Turnbull, Graham Slack and Steve Morton came out the victors with 111 points.
The Seniors were out in force on Monday for a Better-Ball Stableford. Scoring on the day was excellent, and leading the way with 51 points was the pairing of Bill Coles and Ray Sturman.
The Ladies Stableford on Tuesday attracted a bumper entry with 76 ladies competing. The day proved to be a day to remember for one of our ladies, namely Jean Quinn who recorded an incredible 48 points for a landslide victory. Jean also lifted the Blatcher Cup which was up for grabs on the day.
If you hadn't already noticed, Spring/Summer clothing has arrived. True, we might not be reaching for the factor 30 just yet, but hopefully it won't be long.
Every year we look forward to receiving the new collections, and what we have is a fantastic selection of styles to suit all tastes this season. Do pop by to have a browse, even if the weather's still got more Autumn/Winter about it.
For the lucky ones out there escaping for an Easter golfing break - perhaps the Algarve or somewhere even hotter - the arrival of Spring/Summer clothing is just perfect timing - and where better place to do your holiday clothes shop, as opposed to the airport? These garments are designed specifically for golf to help you perform, and look good, of course.
