Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. It has been another busy week here at East Devon Golf Club both on and off the course.
Clinton Centenary Vase
The main event at the Club this weekend has been the prestigious Clinton Centenary Vase which was up for grabs on the Bank Holiday Monday. The event is annually competed for on a Stableford format and is open to all members of the club. The event attracted an entry of just under 150 competitors and with the conditions on the day being friendly, a good score was up for grabs.
The star performer on the day was Club Captain Clive Bennett, who recorded an excellent 41 points to claim the Clinton Centenary Vase and top spot in Division 1. Close on his heels were Emily Morey and Neil Jones with 39 Points who are both leading their Divisions.
The ladies were out in force on Tuesday for a County Stableford. The leading lady on the day amongst the 67 competitors was Hilary Greenaway who returned an excellent 39 Points to take the best overall score and top spot in Division 1. Marion Tye took the honours in a closely fought Division 2 with 38 Points.

Congratulations to all of this week's winners.
Range time is great - but you can work on your game on the course too
"When a pro slices during his range warm-up, he aims down the left on the first tee; when an amateur slices during warm-up, he aims down the middle."
Not our words, but those of world number two Henrik Stenson. I think we'd agree they ring true. For some reason, the club golfer expects perfection on the course - a trait that also shows up when pitching over water to a tight pin, and in club selection… where he invariably believes he can repeat his best ever strike with his chosen weapon.
Shot selection based on a true grasp of your ability can save shots; it's one area we address during a playing lesson. Time spent with us on the course is not only fun; it'll show you how to manage your game and the course to shoot lower scores.
Playing the course is a lost art; we can make it your strength. Click here to enquire about a playing lesson.
