Greetings from Trevor Underwood |
East Devon Golf Club - PGA Golf Professional | | Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. With the weather getting better and better as the week progresses here at East Devon Golf Club, is it safe to say summer seems to of arrived?! We have been nice and busy in the Pro-Shop and it is great to see more happy and smiling golfers out and about on the course.
Men's Results
First action to report upon this week is the Men's Monthly Medal. With a few showers to greet the early morning starters scoring on the day was tricky, this didn't seem to affect Geoff Walden's scoring as he took top spot in Division 1 and best score on the day with a Nett 67. Malcolm Pressey managed to nick a closely fought Division 2 with a nett 70 whilst Kelly Hughes won Division 3 with a solid nett 71.
The Rolle Cup was run in conduction with the Medal on Saturday and by virtue of his excellent scoring Geoff Walden was crowned as this year's victor.
Vets Results
The Seniors were out in force on Monday for their only Medal of the year, Ron Jefford Medal. The star performer on the day was Brian Welch who returned a brilliant Nett 67 to cruise to first place. Jack Jones was the leading venerable vet with a Nett 75. There were 68 entries.
Ladies Results
Big day for the Ladies on Tuesday, the Club Championship played over 36 Holes. Scoring on the day was tough with both rounds being made reductions only. New lady member Claire Dowling was the star performer with a score of 163 winning the Thelma Philp Trophy (Scratch) by 8 shots. Evie Stone continued her good run of form pinching the Hilary Rolls Trophy with an excellent Nett 153.
An eleven hole 3BBB Stableford was played for the ladies not competing in the Championship. With one player missing, the pairing of Barbara Middleditch and Kath Copp impressively won the event with 24 Points.
Congratulations to all of this weeks winners.
And finally this week, details have just been released for my Professional's Day. The event will be staged on Saturday 26th July and places are already filling up nicely, so if you would like to get involved this year please pop in and reserve a time soon.

Use the 'tee drill' to groove a powerful strike | Last week we looked at how brands are creating irons that offer more distance than ever before. With a 9-iron in your hands, as opposed to a 7-iron, we're talking more looks at birdies - so long as your ball-striking is sound. So, here's a drill to help you deliver cleaner, more powerful strikes... | | | | Ask us how you go about getting fit for a set of irons that is right for your own swing.

Versatile clothing for a changeable climate | We've all been there... it's raining one minute, sunny the next, raining again, sunny two minutes later. This is where having a good selection of layers comes in handy. This is where golf-dedicated brands really deliver - and what's more, those layers come with complete freedom of movement. | | | | Come and take a look for yourself in store and make sure the changeable weather conditions don't catch you out.

| | The ideal summer golf shoe is light, comfortable and versatile, while offering protection from those random rainy rounds. Step forward FootJoy’s HydroLite SL, which delivers on all counts thanks to its spikeless sole, waterproof, breathable lining and LoPro last. |
| | | | When the clouds open, you don’t want to be caught out, especially if you have a good score going. We can’t emphasise enough how important it is to have a quality set of waterproofs to call on. Watch our video on Sunderland’s Dolphin Fluke waterproofs. Are you prepared for when things turn nasty? |
