Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. It has been another very busy week here at East Devon Golf Club with all sections having competitive action.
Thanks to all the members that attended our PING Demo Day on Tuesday. The day proved to be a great success and the new range of PING G30 was well received with a number of positive results.

First action to report on is the August Stableford. Scoring in all three divisions was exceptional and two people tied for best score of the day who were Bill Edwards and Mike Hayes with 40 Points. Both topped their Divisions, and the leader in Division 1 was Bob Martin with a brilliant 38 Points.
Congratulations to Bill Edwards on winning this year's Cobbett Cup which was run in conjunction of the August Stableford.
The seniors were out in force on Monday for a Bowmaker Stableford. The trio of John Maidment, Roy Henderson and David Cole took the honours with a fantastic 81 points. Hot on their heels was the team of John Thatcher, Charlie Kerslake and John Pulman who also had 81 points, but just lost out on count back.
The Stableford in 3's attracted an entry of 86 Ladies on Tuesday. Star performer on the day was Jill Miller with a fantastic 40 points taking best score of the day and winning Division 1. Veronica Lankaster took the honours in Division 2 with 35 Points.
Junior Captain's Day
Emily Morey hosted her Junior Captain's Day on Wednesday, a good number of juniors turned up to support her day with an 18 hole competition for the CONGU handicaps, and a 9 hole for the non-CONGU handicaps. The star performer on the day was Evie Stone with an excellent 42 points claiming the Trapnell Cup in the process.
Well done to all this weeks winners.
Choose a club that makes all the right noises
Apparently, there are cracker companies who research the snap their crackers make when broken in half. Car makers research the most luxurious door-closing 'thunk'.
As for golf equipment, sound is even more important. Club engineers believe some 90% of our perception of feel is down to impact sound. Consequently, the biggest companies now use sophisticated computer programs to 'design' the acoustics of the clubheads you'll find in our shop, in a similar way to how they engineer performance.
Don't be too quick to dismiss the sound a club makes. It's hard to gain confidence with a muffled driver, or a clicky putter. A pleasing sound is of course a subjective thing, so the best way to find that good tone is to test a variety. Whether you need a booming driver or a buttery wedge, we have a great range of options - one of which will be sure to play the right tune for you. Click here to tell us what you are looking for.
