There was a modest entry for last weeks Sunday Stableford. The star performer on the day was David Handford who returned an excellent 42 points to claim top spot. Maddie Stone was the leading lady with 39 points.
The ladies were out in force on Tuesday for a County Stableford. Scores on the day were exceptional. With a tremendous 41 points Evie Stone won best overall score and took top spot in Division 1. Barbara Mellor led the way in Division 2 with 39 Points.
Congratulations to Barbara Mellor on winning this year's Whitehead Cup with an impressive 39 Points.
The seniors were back on parade on Monday for an individual Stableford. There were 82 Entries. It was nice to see David Matthews back in the winners circle with an excellent 42 Points. Robert Harland was the leading venerable vet with 34 Points.
Congratulations to Kim Johnson on winning this year's Moxon Wagtail trophy in a closely contested final. Kim managed to see off Nigel Goode to lift this years Trophy.
Congratulations to all of this week's winners.
With less than a month to go until the Ryder Cup some of us are in our own matchplay mode. Going head to head in matchplay format can make a pleasant change to the grind of the sometimes monotonous mission of grinding out as many Stableford points as possible, or compiling a decent medal round.
Knowing that a bad shot will lead to one lost hole at worst can help free us up; give us the confidence to go for our shots safe in the knowledge that we've not 'wrecked' our scorecard. Remember though that there are different tactics involved when it comes to matchplay golf - so if you'd like a bit of help and advice click here to ask a question or pop in and see us.
Enjoy the Ryder Cup build-up and good luck in any matchplay events of your own that you have lined up.
