What side of the debate are you on? Englishman Eddie Pepperell has become just as famous for his witty Twitter account as he is for his golf game, and he used his social media to highlight his displeasure at the ongoing slow-play debacle – particularly at one player. American Bryson DeChambeau took over two-minutes to play a 70-yard chip and roughly the same time to line-up an eight-foot putt (only to go on and miss it) at The Northern Trust on the PGA Tour.
Although not playing in the event, it's safe to say Pepperell was not impressed, labelling DeChambeau an ‘unaffected single-minded golfer’ – without directly naming him (of course). Well, DeChambeau hit back at his critics saying: “When you start personally attacking people on Twitter, it's like, come on, dude. Speak to me to my face about that." Whilst all this was going on, Patrick Reed slipped through all the noise to claim his seventh PGA Tour win, beating Abraham Ancer by one-shot to jump up to second in the FedEx Cup standings with just two events to go. |
