Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. Things have been a little better at East Devon Golf Club this week, and some early signs of Spring in the air!
The St Valentine's Greensome Stableford proved to be a great success on Sunday. 38 pairs ventured out and it was the pairing of Maureen Reynolds and Neil Jones who found the conditions most to their liking, recording an excellent 44 points.
The Senior's were not so lucky on the weather front on Monday. The forecast of heavy rain showers proved to be spot on and although a few gallant members got started, the course quickly became unfit for play and the competition was abandoned.
Due to the heavy rain from the previous day, a trolley ban was in force for the ladies on Tuesday, which meant that the scheduled Stableford was split into 2 events. 30 ladies elected to play 9 holes and 32 ladies managed the full 18. The leading lady over the full duration was Peggy Lomas with an impressive 37 points. Maureen Reynolds continued her run of good form to clinch the 9 hole prize with 21 points.
Congratulations to all of this week's winners.
The Masters Countdown
With approximately 50 days to go until the start of The Masters, it feels like the 'start' of the season is just around the corner. We know a lot of golfers see Augusta as a kind of unofficial start to the golf season, but we like to think it begins a bit sooner than that. So, if you're still in hiding then it's time to dust off those clubs and get out and about.
If the likes of Rory McIlroy and Justin Rose are talking about reaching peak form in time for The Masters, then there's no reason why you shouldn't be out there so when spring/summer comes around you're in good shape yourself to challenge for your own Major titles at the club.
That's why it's a great time to work on your game. Over the winter the short game can lose its sharpness and bad habits can creep in, faults that you don't want to be fighting all year.
If you've been down the range recently and you find yourself struggling - or even if you're just starting to play again - don't be afraid to come and see us for a lesson.
Whether you want a quick fix or a course of lessons, we can help devise a plan for you, so click here to request yours. You'll be reaping the rewards later in the year, we can promise you that…
