Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. It has been another busy week here at East Devon Golf Club.
The dates and times have now gone up for the Captain / Pro Challenge for 2015, and I am pleased to announce that myself and Sandra will be running a Lady Captain/Pro Challenge this season as well. Spaces are starting to fill up quite nicely, so if you fancy a crack be sure to get your names down sooner rather than later.

A sizeable entry ventured out for the March Medal last Saturday. Scoring conditions on the day were far from easy and only a couple of players managed to break par. The star performer on the day, returning the best overall score and victory in Division 2 was Dennis Chivers with an excellent nett 68. John Pulman took the honours in Division 1 with a nett 69 and Geoff Millardship led the way in Division 3 with a nett 73.
The ladies were out in force on Tuesday for their start of season better-ball Stableford. The winning quartet with 38 points over the 9 hole format was Jane Robertson, Eileen Toon, Anne Boyle & Hilary Shiels.
The Midweek Stableford attracted a decent entry on Wednesday. Competition on the day was as keen as ever and in a closely contested contest Glen Lockey came out on top of the stack with an impressive 39 points.
Congratulations to all of this week's winners.
Keep calm… it's only a game
Never mind who won the first World Golf Championship of the year - Dustin Johnson in case you didn't know - because it was Rory McIlroy who stole the show by launching his 3-iron into a lake. These guys set themselves very high standards and the stakes are high. It just goes to show that no matter what level you play at, you can never say you have this game conquered.
One way to avoid the temper tantrums is to come for us for help; not for anger management sessions, but for a lesson or two. Rory's not going to let a pulled 3-iron over water affect his mind set this season, but if you're struggling with a particular shot, come and see us for some help so we can get to work on lowering your scores.
