Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. The weather has been the main talking point this week here at East Devon Golf Club with near on gale force winds battering the Devonshire coast and causing structural damage and the abandonment of much of the competitive golf action as well!
The first event to feel the full force of the elements was the Men's 36 Hole Open on Sunday. Conditions for the morning round were pretty brutal with high winds and squally showers thrown in for good measure. The majority of the field found scoring far from easy and controlling the flight of the golf ball was high on the priority list. The wind continued to gust and even picked up after lunch causing several of the greens to become unplayable and play had to be suspended, and ultimately the afternoon round was abandoned. Prizes were awarded for the first 18 holes only. Leigh Jones won the handicap prize and David Blick was the runner up in the scratch.
The Ladies EG Medal also fell foul to the weather on Tuesday when high winds struck again, causing abandonment of the days play for the same reason.
Congratulations to all of this week's winners.
With the Masters only a week away the Pro Shop is running a sweepstake for the 1st Major of the golf calendar. Tickets have sold steadily over the last few week but there are still a few remaining if you fancy a dabble. Tickets are available at £5 each.

It's about time
At last, the wait is finally over; the clocks have changed... that's forward an hour in case you're still struggling! However the major, major plus is that the longer evenings can only mean one thing: more golf!
If you do one thing this week, make sure it's giving those fair weather golfers a nudge. It's time to get out there and embrace the new season. The Masters is just around the corner, there's 9-hole golf after work on the cards and, who knows, we might start to see the sun a bit more, too.
Remember, we're here to help on all things golf. Give yourself the best chance of enjoying better golf this season and request a lesson with one of the team. Click here to request your lesson.
Enjoy your golf this week and the Easter Break
