Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. It certainly has been a wild old week here at East Devon Golf Club! Most of the South West has been battered by severe winds, rain and some fog thrown in for good measure over the Bank Holiday weekend and early part of the week.
A combination of most of the elements put pay to the scheduled Club competitive action with the Medal and Warn Cup being abandoned on Saturday due to rain and fog, and the Ladies EG Medal and Medal Finals likewise due to high winds!
Mike Brailey's Emerton Court Side got this seasons campaign off to a positive start with a 4.5 - 0.5 victory at home to Tavistock on Thursday. We all wish them well in the return fixture at Tavistock next week.
Apologies for the slight delay, but I wanted to include this week a picture of last week's trophy winners Claire Dowling and Rowan Edbrook who are pictured here with our Lady Captain Sandra Sydenham.
Enjoy your golf this week.
Custom fitting: the misconceptions
"I'm not good enough to get custom fit." Probably the biggest misconception we face, along with "It's too expensive" and various other ideas that don't stack up. We take great pleasure in seeing someone improve and whilst lessons play a major part in that, getting custom fit gives you the best possible chance of enjoying better golf; and that's whether you're a 20-handicapper or single figure golfer.
This game can be hard enough, but no matter what your level, arming yourselves with equipment that is right for your own swing is a must. We wouldn't deter anyone from buying a new set of irons from the shop, but we'd be happier ensuring they were fit for you, and, ultimately, you will be too.
So, if you're sceptical about the merits of custom fitting, then come and speak to us, we're here to help.
