Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. It has been another mainly dry week here at East Devon Golf Club with the course full of competitive action.
The May Stableford was the main event at the weekend. A beautiful day greeted the 103 competitors and all was set fair for a day of good scoring. The star performers on the day were Ian Peacock and Ian Andrew who both returned scores of 38 points to share the best overall score of the day prize and top spot in their respective Divisions. Tony Waters led the way in Division 3 with 35 points.
Saturday was also the qualification round for this year's Lombard Trophy and I am pleased to announce that
Ian Andrew will be joining me to represent East Devon in the regional final at Burnham and Berrow early next month.
The Seniors were out in force on Monday for their monthly Stableford. The weather took a slight turn for the worst during the morning with some rain showers and strong winds sweeping across the course, which made the scoring somewhat difficult. The one player that found the conditions most to his liking was Andy Scott who returned a tremendous 38 points to claim top spot.
Ron Jefford was the leading venerable vet with 32 points.
There were 54 entries for the Ladies Veteran's Championship on Tuesday. The day was rather dominated by Judy Murray who played her best round of the year so far to claim both of pieces of silverware on offer, the Caldwell Scratch Trophy with a gross 84 and the Freeman Handicap Trophy with a nett 72.
Congratulations to all of this week's winners.
Enjoy the Bank Holiday and your golf this week.
