Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter.
First port of call this week is to congratulate Bill Coles on winning the senior's Parker Cup for the 2013/14 season. In a closely fought final he managed to edge the challenge of Ray Sturman by 3&2 to lift this year's silverware.
There was a bumper entry for the Midweek Stableford and some fantastic scores were recorded on the day. There was a two way tie at the top of the leaderboard on 42 Points but by virtue of a card playoff the bragging rights went to Chris Devlin who just managed to pip Leigh Jones.
The Ladies were out in force on Tuesday for the Express & Echo Foursomes. Leading the way with an impressive 35 points and a landslide victory, was the in form pairing of Hazel Munyard and Val Humphrey. Close on their heels with 34 points was the pairing of Lady Captain Elaine Whitehead and Margaret Webb. These two pairings will now go on to represent East Devon at the Finals Day at Fingle Glen Golf Club later in the year.
East Devon began their quest to regain the Exe League on Sunday when they hosted the first round of this year's round robin event. Scoring was tough on the day and home advantage paid dividends as East Devon came out on top securing their first 10 points.

We are all looking forward to the start of a new golf season, but the one downside to the return of the sun is the dastardly sight of thickening rough.
But it's here that the hybrid or utility club really earns its corn. Even the tangliest grass struggles to grab its sleek, rounded head, while its low-profile shape and weight distribution promote easy launch. From distance, the club can force the ball closer to the green than the short-iron alternative.
This is why we believe now is the ideal time to talk to us about the hybrids that should be in your bag - or even the ones that already are. Not only do we have some great options for you, all of which we personally endorse; we can also advise on aspects like lofts, custom-fit and how to blend hybrids with your existing irons.
Used properly, the hybrid can save you shots all summer. Get yours sorted now… and hit the ground running in 2014. Click here to visit my website and see some of the hybrids I have in my shop catalogue.
