Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter. It has been another busy week here at East Devon Golf Club both on and off the course.
There was a decent entry for the August Medal last weekend. The honour for best overall score of the day was by Ian Andrew with an excellent nett 67, who also topped his division 2. Phillip Prince led the way in division 3 with a nett 69 and Jacob Tinsley continued his run of good form with a solid nett 68 to win division 1.
Division 1 Jacob Tinsley 68 Brian Sansom 71 Robin Murray 72
Division 2 Ian Andrew 67 Paul Maslen 67 Michael O'Reilly 69
Division 3 Phillip Prince 69 Peter Dowling 71 Keith Luff 72
Congratulations to Ian Andrew on winning this year's Roy Greenaway Medal with a nett 67 which was run in conjunction with the medal.
The Senior's were out in force on Monday for their Individual Stableford. The competition, as ever was extremely well supported with over 90 entries and it was nice to see Andy Scott back in the winner's enclosure with a tremendous 39 points. The leading venerable vet was Graham Ward with 35 points.
1st Andy Scott 39 points 2nd Ray Ambrose 39 points 3rd Bill Norris 38 points
There was a disappointing entry for the Ladies EG Medal on Tuesday. Blustery conditions made scoring on the day somewhat challenging! The one player that found the conditions most to her liking was Judy Murray, she recorded the only sub par round of the day a nett 73 to claim top spot.
Congratulations to Emily Morey and Evie Stone who have been in competitive action this week representing Devon in the England Golf South West Junior Inter County Matchplay at the Isle of Wedmore in Somerset. Both girls had a great few days playing for their county and helped steer Devon to a runners-up spot, narrowly missing out to victory to Gloucestershire on the final day.
