Welcome to the latest edition of my newsletter.
Well it has been another petty decent week here at East Devon Golf Club as the mild spell of weather continues. Competitive action has been a little thin on the ground, but we have been nice and busy in the Pro Shop as we start the count down to the Christmas festivities!
The final Ladies County Stableford of 2015 took place on Tuesday and there was a good turn out of 72 players battling it out for the honours. Conditions on the day were contusive to some really good scoring and the top of the leaderboard was tightly packed. In fact 3 players were locked at the top on 37 points. By virtue of a card play off it was Lauren Chapman who took the honours.
Congratulations to this weeks winners.
The dreaded mud ball
Who's had one of these recently? It's bound to happen at some point over the winter, so rather than curse your luck and resort to hit and hope, follow our advice and you may just avoid bogey or worse.
When you're faced with a mud ball in the rough this winter and you're not able to clean it as you would be on the fairway, you're going to find that the ball will fly through the air with much less spin. So…
1. Select a club or landing area that will cater for your shot releasing towards the target
Some of the mud is bound to disperse on impact, but it's impossible to predict which direction it will fly in. Therefore…
2. Take a neutral aim and commit to the swing like normal
There is obviously going to be a degree of luck whatever you do, but unless you have to, don't take on any difficult flags.
Try putting this into action. For other tips and drills, and winter lesson requests, contact us here - or speak to one of the team in the shop.
